In the context of information society, fundamental sciences and innovatory technologies constitute a decisive evolutionary factor. Information-resource network user is involved in on-line activities, with almost fantastic access to remote library collections and databases, and business communications. Unlimited opportunities for creative work are thus provided, requiring information-networking skills to ensure independent data retrieval, subject request formulation, and knowledge of legal regulations for data exploitation. The paper describes the forms and methods used in the National Library of Russia to deal with issues of intellectual property in cyber-space, and user education in information-networking and business.
