The development of the distance learning course "Developing projects and looking for support of charitable foundations and organizations" has been started in 2000. It was first open for everybody in test mode and later used as a prerequisite for attending a face-to-face seminar "Information support of international cooperation in science and education".

The subject of DL course and seminar is vital for the current state of science and education when most of the research works and urgent developments are conducted in the conditions of grant support.

The course has been developed in the WebCT environment (http://www.webct.com), which is considered to be standard de facto in distance learning: it is used by more than 2200 organizations in more than 80 countries in the world. WebCT is more than 8 years on the market of educational software and is actively expanding its functionality.

The distance learning course "Developing projects and looking for support of charitable foundations and organizations" is supposed to be used with the following purposes:

1) as a preliminary distance module preparing students for face-to-face seminar;

2) as the basis for regular distance learning on the subject.

The further development of the distance learning course is connected with attraction of experts from foreign foundations and programs; organization of partnerships with regional centers; integration of the course with other DL courses in the framework of the program "Internet technologies in humanities".
