In the paper the main principles of eLearning Server, a special distance learning tool system, are considered. The tool is intended for web-based servers construction for the systems of distance learning. The communication aspect is especially allocated, allowing to consider all elements of student's information environment, including not only personal computer but also the whole set of other technical devices. The described approach was realized in the software products named eLearning Office and eLearning Server.
