The basic features of the information system "White Sea" which is under development in SRCES RAS are discussed in the paper. The structure of the information system has three parts. The first one contains data, which are placed on a CD R, and specially created software that supports data input. This part has also a search option and allows a user to do some limited processing. The second and third parts of the system are aimed at presenting the results of data processing, which has to demonstrate the state of the environment on the Web.
