The same as many economic infrastructures (like transport, energy, etc.) came from a set of independent units to unified form, the infrastructure supporting research activity of community of scientists is on its way to integrated, unified form. Such unified form based on two points: a)on a virtual integration of academic information resources on the Internet (electronic collections and other academic materials) from independent research organization; and b)virtual integration of online services that use integrated information resources as its input and produce as an output new resources which also becomes a part of unified information space. These ideas are illustrated by samples from Socionet system (http://socionet.ru/).
