IP version 6 will be the main network level protocol of the future generation communications systems. This point is not causing argument any more. The advantages of IPv6 are well known: it allows addressing an unprecedented amount of mobile intelligent devices, which are essential for creation of ambient intelligence in our environment.

The IPv6 working group of the Internet Center of P.G. Demidov Yaroslavl State University is presently working on the project devoted to study and deployment of IPv6 in mobile networks especially stressing on its new features, which make such application of the protocol more feasible.

To address this goal an experimental system is being created on the subset of the infrastructure of Yaroslavl Regional Network. This system is being created by growing the infrastructure by several wireless segments, supporting mobile nodes. The experimental system will be used to solve problems arising during intra- and inter-university seminars, namely to conduct presentations and have interactive multimedia communications without need to modify any settings in mobile hosts, integration of security supporting solutions, such as security in IPv6 (ESP and AH) with mobile IPv6 in order to achieve sufficient privacy for data circulating in such network and control information flows between mobile network entities.
