Regional calculations center has been created in P.G. Demidov Yaroslavl State University. The center is centered around calculations cluster, equipped with high speed multi-processor system, which gives regional scientists and technical specialists ability to perform complex calculation-intensive tasks locally and to perform post-processing of data, obtained from calculations run at national supercomputing centers as well as at supercomputer centers abroad.
The main characteristics of the distributed calculations infrastructure of Yaroslavl region is interoperability - i.e. possibility of forming network attachments (to the Internet) under the condition of preservation of managed autonomy of cluster participants.
Technical solutions found and software developed in Yaroslavl State University during the work with the calculations cluster under the TRU64 Unix (version 5.1) operating system are covering a number of directions, such as Globus, Condor, Network queuing system, MPICH, access to the supercomputing centers of the Russian Federation and similar international centers.
